After a wee bit of a hiatus I’m back to the blog again.
I came to the realization a couple months ago that it’s time for me to get back to university and finish the degree. It’s something that’s been nagging in the back of my mind for quite some time and it’s time to act.
The challenge is the transfer of credits etc. to Ottawa – The University of Toronto wanted to see the original name change certificate, and I was not going to mail it. With my mum’s birthday being this week I decided to make the long weekend a bit longer and got to Toronto Thursday night and to UofT yesterday.
Filling out the form was easy, simple, but when they went to change gender in the system it wouldn’t let them change it. The problem? An error check in the system that some programmer thought would be a good idea – if (title == ‘Mr’ || ‘Ms’) etc, don’t let the gender change. The solution? Make me a Dr. temporarily, then the system allowed the gender to be changed. Fortunately one of the people working there had encountered this before and remembered the work around.
Now all I need to do is get the application in to the university in Ottawa and have UofT send the transcripts to them. I’m going to be starting part-time in the fall and go from there. I need to work while studying so don’t want to take too much on.
With regards to CAMH, I need to get off my butt and send the forms in. There are a couple of letters I want to send along that I don’t have yet.
As for the rest of the transition, life is life, and I’m living a fairly normal life and the only thing left for transitioning is the surgery.
